This self-assessment essay is a reflection on my development throughout the ENGL 210: Writing for the Social Sciences course. In this piece, I critically examine how my writing has evolved in terms of clarity, voice, structure, and analytical depth. I reflect on the course learning outcomes by identifying both the challenges I faced and the strengths I relied on to overcome them, such as improving my revision process to strengthen arguments, incorporating feedback, and learning to balance an academic analysis. I reference specific assignments, including the Subculture Essay, Peer Cultural Op-Ed, and “Culture is Ordinary” Essay, to illustrate how each contributed to my learning. Overall, this essay highlights not just my progress as a writer but also how I have grown in confidence and gained a clearer understanding of writing from both a reflective and analytical view.
